Guy T. Cherry founded Cherry Oil in 1928. Today the company is run by his grandson Jay Cherry, Jr. and Armistead Mauck. The gas, oil, and lubes bulk plant located at 2947 Hull Rd. is managed by Helen Stilley. The Herring Gas LP Bulk plant, located at 192 NC Hwy 58 South, is managed by Bud Jones. Convenience store operations are managed by Betty Stanberry.
In December of 2006 Cherry Oil changed it's operating name to Cherry Energy. The new name was selected to better identify with the wide range of products and services now offered by our company. Re-imageing began in early 2007 and is expected to take close to 24 months before it is fully completed.
Cherry Energy operates four convenience stores under the "C-Mart" name and supplies fifteen dealer locations. C-Mart store offerings include ATM's, Pay-at-Pump, car wash, Java Lane Fresh Brewed Coffees, Byrd's Resturant, Ol' Plant Dinner, Krispy Kreme Donuts, and more. Gas brands include BP/Amoco, Pure, and C-Gas. Cherry Oil also provides short truck deliveries in Lenoir, Greene, Pitt, Craven, Jones, Carteret, and Onslow counties. We are also proud to offer Union 76 and Warren lubes and packaged oils.
In March of 2007 Cherry Energy announced two new dealer sites in eastern North Carolina. JD’s Country Store located at 4549 WILSON MILLS RD. in SMITHFIELD and 51 Ten Market and Café located at 5110 NC HWY 96 NORTH, LITTLE DEVINE RD. in SELMA. Both of these locations operate under the BP Brand and offer quality Amoco Fuels.
